The Dominican Judo Confederation (CONDOJUDO) held various activities for the 16th National Judo Day in the Dominican Republic.
5th May
Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic.– The celebration of the 16th National Judo Day in the
Dominican Republic included sporting events, talks, training sessions, the
presentation of various educational materials, and other activities.
The
different entities affiliated with the Dominican Judo Confederation (Condojudo)
organized this year's event with significant participation from athletes,
coaches, referees, provincial leaders, and others involved in the discipline
founded and bequeathed to the world by the Japanese philanthropist Jigoro Kano
in 1882.
History reminds us that Condojudo was founded on May 5, 2010, marking
the beginning of a new era for Dominican Judo, aimed at overcoming the imposed
control of the sport by both the national federation and the illegal
continental organization created to disregard the rulings of the Court of
Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Due to the lack of recognition
of the arbitration awards of the highest sports tribunal by the then-sole
global judo organization, the World Judo Federation (WJF) was founded.
In this
regard, the Condojudo (Dominican Judo Confederation) is affiliated with the
continental organization known as the Panamerican Judo Union (PJU), which has
been in existence for 74 years, and with the World Judo Federation (WJF).
Today, Condojudo holds its National Championships for children, youth, and
seniors, for both women and men, while also developing training courses and
seminars in Refereeing and Coaching, always under the motto "Judo for
All," among other events.
Internationally, the Dominican Judo Confederation (CONDOJUDO) has participated in the World Games in Tafisa, Lithuania; World Children's Judo Day in the United States; the Panamerican Championships in Santo Domingo; the World Judo Championships in Brazil; and the Panamerican Judo Championships in Malargüe, Argentina, among others.
The
Executive Committee of the Dominican Judo Confederation (Condojudo) is composed
of José Rafael Suarez Morales, Percio Salvador Pujols Castillo, Fanny Ocacia
Bello, Bolívar Abreu Lugo, and Miguel Fatiol, who serve as president, vice
president, secretary, treasurer, and member, respectively.
"We are
immensely proud to celebrate these sixteen years since the founding of the
Dominican Judo Confederation, which has allowed us to move forward, overcoming
all adversities and establishing National Judo Day in the Dominican
Republic," stated José Rafael Suarez Morales, president of Condojudo.
