Y es que las Uniones Continentales de Judo y por consiguiente sus Federaciones Nacionales afiliadas siguen en un largo letargo impuesto por su ente rector la Federación Internacional de Judo.
Basta ver el cuadro de participacion por continente en los Juegos de la XXXII Olimpiada, Tokio 2020 para conocer cual entidad continental va a resultar la mayor ganadora de medallas en el deporte de judo en la justa olimpica que inicia el 23 de julio 2021; claramente Europa.
1.- Desde la ilegal ascension del señor Marius Vizer al frente de la Federacion Internacional de Judo en 2007 inicio retirando cupos olimpicos a varias Uniones Continentales y como ejemplo a America le despojo de 22.
Ante la dificultad de un pais del tercer mundo en lograr clasificar atletas a este se le asigna un cupo lo que se vende a la opinion publica como mayor numero de paises en el certamen pero, obvio, menor cantidad de atletas.

Seria adecuado y luego de terminados los Juegos Olimpicos, analizar cuantas medallas obtuvieron los paises que solo lograron participar con un atleta los que mayormente son aquellos que reciben la dadiva del cupo olimpico.
Ni hablar del manejo autoritario y preferencial del arbitraje en eventos mundialistas; esto merece un capitulo por separado.
World Judo in a Lethargy
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- We recently learned of the draw for the judo
discipline in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which for us was not at all strange
because the matches of the combats have the primacy of one continent over the
others.
And it is that
the Continental Judo Unions and consequently their affiliated National
Federations continue in a long lethargy imposed by their governing body the
International Judo Federation.
It is enough to see the participation table by continent in the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, Tokyo 2020 to know which continental entity will be the biggest winner of medals in the sport of judo in the Olympic tournament that begins on July 23, 2021; clearly Europe.
Let's review the
participation percentages and they will be as follows: Europe 197 athletes for
50.13%, Asia 89 athletes and 22.65%, America 55 athletes and 13.99%, Africa 44
athletes with 11.96% to finish with Oceania with 8 athletes and 2.03%.
According to the data obtained by us, this totals 393 athletes of both sexes.
Where does this
huge inequality in the participation of judo athletes by continent come from?
1.- Since the illegal ascension of Mr. Marius Vizer to the head of the International Judo Federation in 2007, hebegan withdrawing Olympic quotas from severalContinental Unions and, as an example, he deprivedAmerica of 22. 2.- The Olympic classification systems in judo prioritize the greatest number of countries, leaving aside technical quality.
Given the difficulty of a third world country in being able to classify athletes, this is assigned a quota, which is sold to the public opinion as the largest number of countries in the contest but, obviously, fewer athletes.
3.- The
qualifying events are expensive and mostly in European countries, making it impossible
for nations with little purchasing power to move and once solve the high sums
of money for the stays, among other negative points.
It would be
appropriate and after the end of the Olympic Games, to analyze how many medals
were obtained by the countries that only managed to participate with one
athlete, which are mostly those that receive the gift of the Olympic quota.
We really must congratulate Mr. Marius Vizer because at
the head of the International Judo Federation he has done a
great job in favor of Europe, his continent, to the detriment
of the other continental unions which sleep an eternal sleep
affecting what they must defend, the athletes. Not to
mention the authoritarian and preferential handling of
arbitration in World Cup events; this deserves a separate
chapter.
In addition,
Vizer has disregarded the arbitration awards of the Court of Arbitration for
Sport based in Lausanne, use of Olympic Solidarity funds to keep countries
prostrate at his feet with the captive vote, imposition of national leaders
ignoring the values of the democratic election, at the whim of almost all the
members of the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation, in
short, that and much more.
Needless to say,
his ephemeral presidency at SportAccord where he insulted in the presence of
the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and that the
International Federations which left the entity earned him the rejection,
forcing him to resign from it.
We cannot ignore the misappropriation of funds from the 2008 Beijing Olympic Dividends in a sum close to a million dollars and that the Court of Arbitration for Sport conditioned receiving the lawsuit in question, why?
This is the judo
of today where inclusion, equality and equity have disappeared giving priority
to the exclusion of thousands of judokas, coaches, referees and leaders from
all over the world, which has promoted the formation and multiplicity of new
national entities of this discipline in different countries, examples abound.
The purchase of
leaders from many countries of the world and the granting of
"facilities" has been the keynote of the presidency of Marius Vizer
at the head of the International Judo Federation.
Many may accept this
undemocratic way of running an International Federation, but what cannot and
should not be accepted is that the IOC remains indifferent and impassive in the
face of these palpable facts that have been repeatedly denounced.
Faced with these
abuses, the IOC has the floor!
